The near future

tentative plans until I leave the country

semi-overcast 32 °C

Well, I haven't really been utilizing this site, but I've put up some more stops on the map both to keep my own thoughts straight and to give you all a rough idea of where I can be found at any given time...

This is really just an update post, since most of my misadventures are being documented on my blog (click here)... But I'm in 'nawlins and am having a great time with Miriam. We just saw Sex and the City!! Lots of girly fun... I laughed, I cried... ah, memories. Also today we went to the New Orleans Museum of Art and saw an exhibit of works by George Rodrigue, a Louisiana boy who does all the blue dog paintings (see old Xerox ads for color printers), as well as the sculpture garden, where there were some interesting pieces.

Tomorrow is canoeing somewhere in Mississippi with some couchsurfers, and the other day we went on a bit of a walk around some parts of the city (don't ask me what parts, I have no sense of direction here). Lots more to see though, and I may do one of those city tours at some point to get a better feel for the city at large. One thing I've already discovered, though, is that veggie food is not this town's strong suit!

Today was made up of getting going late, driving 400 miles, encountering near-tornado conditions, and finally arriving safe and sound. Unfortunately, it meant driving through Ohio, a place I try to avoid (I kid! But not really.). Once in Kentucky, the torrential rains began, with super high winds and tons of debris all over the road. The few of us crazy enough to stay on the road were going about 30MPH, which is a true test of my patience. It was intense.

But I'm safe and sound in Louisville, KY at my first couchsurfing house ever! I've got the Pens game on, had some Whole Foods, I've got my next couch all worked out, and am feeling pretty good. Good first day, overall.
